This will be my next build for Cruel Seas. I will use this plan as a guideline to build different steamers as convoy ships for Cruel Seas games. The model will be around 24cm long. I will use the same hull with different superstructures to represent different generic steam ships. Like tankers, fighters, passenger liners etc . Here is the start on the hull.

As one modelmaker to another, I am wondering about the apparent lack of correspondence between the side view and the top view. I am assuming that the solid double lines on the latter represent the waterline(s), but the dashed line outside of that doesn't at all correspond to the weather decks, in particular at the stern. I assume that with this plan you are looking more for inspiration, rather than an exact representation. MH |

The plan posted shows the side (sheer) view and then the near bottom level (lower hold) where the boilers and VTE engine are all located. It doesn't show the upper decks at all… |

I think you missed the point of my question, but so long as you are happy with the drawings, all is good… |

Yes it is only for inspiration as it will be a generic steamer. But you have to start somewhere |

Looking good! The plan in the drawing is not of any one deck. The dashed lines on the plan correspond to the double dashed lines on the elevation, and are designed to show the contrast between the waterline print and the maximum overall dimensions of the ship |

Here is a trick to add sheer, if you are interested. Add a little left at both ends with a small plug of balsa….
Rough sand the hull to shape….
fill in gaps with wood filler….
