"Last stand" implies that they're about to be defeated and on their last legs. |

Congress and the Pentagon are blocking POTU's withdrawal of troops from Syria because ISIS still poses a threat. The SecDef even resigned in protest of it. Obviously ISIS is in a much better position than one that requires any "last stands." |
