Hello, did the Muslims raid into Spain and else where during the middle 1500's into the 1600's? Are there any books on the subject.

I believe even into or near the coast Ireland and England during the 1700s as Pirates.

Yes, they raided the Mediterranean coast and islands of Spain from diferent ports in North Africa (the Barbary Coast, I think Osprey has a book about this).

You have a good starting point at Wiki: link

first, there were muslims into Spain until 1610-1614,
and even a war against them in the years 1568-1571 supported by the Ottoman Regency of Algiers who sent help, its fleet and troops,

Everywhere they could.
Yezrs ago watched an excellent Bbc or Itv or something doc on it, to my astonishment, the coasts of Ireland!
Till Europeans mastered sailing, esp close to the wind.

And east, to Russia till crushed and pushed back in the 16-17th century.
And also Africa till 19th century when brought down by anti slavery European colonials (e.g. Zanzibar afaik from Oman).
Loot
Slaves
Kids for various uses
Women same.

Now back in Sudan, Lybia and of course more or less in a semi mild/ unofficial version in Arabia. ( ask Philipino maids who can't access their passports…).

It can be an endless source of skirmishes of all types ( at least one side is the same type, roughly with period mods,) with 2-3 "sides" , events etc. Provided the minis exist.

Irregular Wars rules seems to be pretty much designed for this type of war:

These rules look interesting. Maybe putting the scales, design concepts, aims etc. to read might help.

That page lists some sources, among them:
Davis, Robert C. (2003). Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery in the Mediterranean, the Barbary Coast and Italy, 1500-1800. Palgrave Macmillan. ISBN 978-0-333-71966-4.

Quote from the wiki-page:
"Davis estimates that 1 million to 1.25 million Europeans were enslaved in North Africa, from the beginning of the 16th century to the middle of the 18th, by slave traders from Tunis, Algiers, and Tripoli alone"

Barbary slave-takers were still hitting the English coast as late as the reign of Charles I, and you'd still see the odd Barbary pirate vessel in the English Channel as late as the Napoleonic Wars.

The reparations payments from Algeria and Tunisia seem to have been lost in the mails.

The French repaired themselves by invading in 1830 on.
