We can define a lifestyle hobby as a hobby in which a person has sufficiently committed such that the hobby is a significant portion of their identity. There are even lifestyle games, like Magic the Gathering CCG.

Wargaming is a lifestyle for me. Working and eating are annoyance, time-draining activities. Hiking and yardwork are my alternate lifestyle … Zen activities where I can free my mind to think about wargaming.

rustymusket28 Jan 2019 11:34 a.m. PST

A. Yes, pretty much.

A. There's something in Gaudy Night, I think about knowing what your ruling passions are because they're what you keep doing, even when there are good reasons to stop.

Old Contemptibles28 Jan 2019 12:39 p.m. PST

A – Historical Gaming

Old Contemptibles28 Jan 2019 12:40 p.m. PST

+1 Piepenbrink. I resemble that remark.

I would say you're going to get a lot As from TMP users. Almost renders the poll redundant.

No – not by that definition.

I like to game, but 9 out of ten times it's board games. Rarely do I get a chance to push around little toy soldiers. Rather, painting little toy soldiers for the games I rarely play has been the element that defines my gaming lifestyle.

A. I have other interests, and there are times I've tried to minimize my time and effort, but I always come back. Maybe it's more like an addiction.

Dynaman878928 Jan 2019 4:52 p.m. PST

A – if you include all forms of wargaming (board, PC, Miniatures). I am leery of the term though. Favorite pastime is what I would call it.

I'm with Tacitus, though obviously my collection of miniatures argues otherwise…okay, make it an A.
