and why?

That is a very lazy question that requires a considerable effort from others. How about a bit more information on your own experience and what you are looking for?

All rules work for all scales, just depends on how much table space you have available.

Same as I like for 6mm, 10mm, 15mm, and 20mm.

Same as we play for 20s, 15s and 6s. Command and Colours Ancients for a fun game, Lost Battles for something more serious.

DBA, because you can have a good looking army with relatively few models.

Definitely DBA

Hail Caesar right now, used to be Warhammer Ancients

Impetus and Basic Impetus. The big "diorama" bases look really good with 28s.

Rules are size agnostic

Swordpoint, because you can fight battles easily on a larger scale. (Impetus is pretty good at this, too.)

Hail Caesar….a bit more tactical, and because it's based on the Black Powder system, with appropriate changes, it's easier to get those more modern guys to play ancients. I also like the game system.

And War and Conquest, because it's essentially the replacement for WAB, if you liked WAB. Both were authored by Rob Broom; he used to run the historical division of Games Workshop. (My favorite, but tough to find players.) Rob made some rules improvements that would have made WAB a better game.

DBA/DBM….too finicky for my taste. Millimeters matter. Popular for tournament players because they are so precise.

DBMM and TTS.

DBMM because it is the most common denominator and works to produce a challenging game.
TTS because it is fun and gives a good game.

Hail Caesar. We have tried several other rules sets but keep coming back to these.

Marcus Brutus30 Jan 2019 10:02 a.m. PST

I play Impetus.

Pulse of Battle. Great set of ancient rules.

Impetus,

Multiple moves in a turn so strategic set up required
Simple combat and shooting
Result in under two hours
Basing is attractive and can be done as a diorama
