While in battle do your troops keep track of their battle
achievements?

I always sniggered when one of my regular gaming buddies insisted that a particular stand of infantry was elite (and thus to be rated such in the game) because of its pristine battle record in past games…even if being used in a historical scenario. I once old him if that stand was elite, all the figs of guard he had just painted were green since this was their first battle.

Did so many years ago, but these days the only
info I consider is if a given unit did very well
(or very poorly) in a 3-game campaign.

I will adjust their morale up (or down) if that is
the case. In most cases, taking the color of an
enemy unit will get them an increase whereas losing
their color will cause a decrease – BUT I'll also
give that unit a die roll (D6) and on a '1' will
increase their melee value to try and help them
to regain the lost statistic by capturing an enemy
color.

Just a little something to add a bit of interest…

Only where it is a mechanism for a campaign.

I did have a WWI figure that was missing half his arm, so I bandaged and bloodied it up and we called him "Stumpy". He had a reputation for individual and unit attacks that did very well. Likewise, I made a figure of me for a scifi game. That one couldn't hit the broad side of an asteroid with advanced AI targeting. That wasn't really tracking achievements, it was just noticing a trend in a figure or two that stood out.

Certain units acquire a reputation eventually. I know a well-painted 30mm British hussar regiment the owner couldn't sell to any member of the group. He tried, but we all knew about the "rotten routing Tenth."

I do, and great victories or dismal showings I change ratings a 1/2 point.

My armies have a record similar to my home football team, the Minnesota Vikings. Always a bridesmaid never a bride.

Had an ork warlord in 40K that my son could never kill. Our last battle had my warlord escape a scattered vortex grenade by an eighth of an inch.
Other than that, never keep track, mostly.

With the exception of a rare campaign game, I go with what the scenario says.

That car is hilarious. I would be tempted to do the same thing except I don't put decals or stickers on my cars. But that picture has to look bad in court if something like that actually happens.
