Hi all,

An interesting set of scenes depicting the short but bloody Sino-Vietnamese war of 1979. I apologise if they've been shared before.

Food for thought.

Interesting action sequence.

Skip ahead the first 2:45 if you want to get to the fighting.

Thanks,I haven't seen this before.

Hmmm. I wonder if "instructor" is supposed to be "cadet" or "commisar."

Interesting sign of tensions with Vietnam to have a movie out reminding people of this generally unsuccessful war. Portraying the Vietnamese as "invaders" is completely inaccurate as far as Chinese territory is concerned. The PRC invaded Viet Nam because they had invaded Cambodia. But hey, anybody overthrowing Pol Pot gets at least partial credit.

The Vietnamese thumped the hell out of the PLA. Happy to acknowledge a well made battle scene, which it is, but very dubious about the rest of the film.

Well, the US had just spent about 20 years training the North Vietnamese Army…

Yup. Oh, so they invaded Cambodia and shot Pol Pot? Hey, State Department? Send the commanding general a bottle of his preferred beverage, compliments of the US.

Nope Pol Pot did not get shot. Too bad.

"Well, the US had just spent about 20 years training the North Vietnamese Army"

I think you'll find it was the other way around!
