I am sure this has come up before but this year I think I might finally start work on running the scenario that focuses on the attack on the three Tiger tanks and the bank. Oh and I want to do it in 28 mm. Regardless of rules and size/scale have you run or played in a Kelly's Heroes scenario and how did it go, was it a flop or did it meet your expectations? |

A buddy of mine ran it many years ago. We had fun. |

It was a regular feature at UK shows in the 80s/90s called Rob a Bank With a Tank. I think the Mailed Fist Group used to run it, though I could be wrong there. It was always very popular. |

Nope, never cared for the movie. |

Never did it but sounds like it would be fun. Warlord has a Kelly's Heroes bundle with characters from the movie as well as the Shermans and the fake Tiger as it appears in the movie |

Played in it once at a con. Decent game, lot of fun |

You could also do the updated version from Yugoslavia or Albania. Although the were no Tigers there. |

Yep, had great fun using the scenarios from NUTS author John Paul Bakoshian! link |

I already own the Artizan Design figures of Kelly, Oddball, and Joe which I think look better than the Warlord figures. However, I was planning to get Oddball's tank from Warlord and yes I was planning to use Bolt Action with some scenario rules thrown in or the special rules that Warlord has written. While the fake tiger would be fun I have decided that unlike the movie there will be actual Tiger I models on the table. The main challenge will be building the town. Which I think I will have to mostly be scratch build myself in order to save money and might be the only way to get something that looks close to the bank from the film. @Chuckaroobob, updated version???? I will also note that I know historically American forces in Europe rarely faced Tiger tanks. I even considered substituting late war Panzer IVs for the Tigers to make the game a bit more in line with history, but what is the fun in that. The movie had Oddball and Kelly's men (an under strength platoon) taking on three Tiger tanks and its infantry support (which if I recall correctly would be about a company.) so we are not talking realism in any sense of the word. This is Hollywood and a Hollywood like game. I expect players to be quoting their favorite lines from the film and doing their best dog imitations, while everyone has a little wine and a little cheese. |

Played it at Historicon a long time ago……1/35th scale with Pete Panzeri as gamemaster ( i think). I was Babra and Big Joe. Great fun. |

I ran the attack on the rail yard once in 15mm using Battleground for rules. We had a good time with a basically imbalanced scenario. |

21eR3gt you make a good point about unbalanced scenarios, in that one side is not going to have many moments of glory. And that is something I taking into account with wanting to do this particular scenario. In theory the outcome of the movie is plausible. After all Kelly et.al., had the element of surprise and caught the Germans with their pants down. No one expected Americans this deep behind their lines. But unless I am going to run the Germans and let all the other players be Kelly and crew the German players have the chance to win or at least score victory points that give them the chance to do so. At this point I am in complete speculation mode and it is a scenario I have wanted to do ever since I got into WW II as a period to war game. |

Kallman: Not sure about this stuff or perhaps the authors were pulling my leg… I have not seen it but there is a movie called "Renegades" where a special forces team tries to recover gold from the bottom of a lake in a warzone, maybe Yugoslavia. At one point they steal a T-72 and lead everyone on a merry chase. In Albania during the "War Against the Sky" some people stole armored vehicles from depots and used them to rob banks, some of them even dragged the vault away whole. |

Here's all you need to know, John Paul's version playable with any set of skirmish rules I would expect. link |
