My father always told me I could get into Annapolis automatically because we have an ancestor in the navy.

I believe he was wrong on both counts. (We do have an ancestor that was in the U.S. Navy, but not the one he was thinking of!)

My grandfather (WWI infantry) vet gave some advice about joining the Navy before WWII.

In two branches at different times (USMC and USNR) and as a civilian contractor too. And I was on a Navy base today for work. Hows that fit a yes/no poll?

Broadbrush polls are useless. Gotta ask deeper questions to find out real answers.
