Wanted to let the TMP community know that Impetus 2 was released on January 15 of this year. Same basic system but some also fairly significant changes. I think overall this is an improvement over the 1st edition. For more information see the link below. I might offer a review after playing Impetus 2 a few times.

Had the same questions as parrrskool and if the Impetus army books remain the same.

I received my copy this week. A quick glance shows some improvements as far as I am concerned and some new additions. As for the Army Books, movement has changed from measuring in cms to half-base widths so those stats will require modification.

New lists will be coming out to replace the current lists but the currents lists are still operative. There is no timeline on this. The new list books, to my understanding, will be tighter in construction (less fluff) and more comprehensive.

Thanks for the info. Just ordered…

The changes go beyond what was listed in the link roundie gave. The basic mechanics are the same but I think this is fairly large reboot of the game. Overall, I think this moves Impetus forward even if there are a few changes I am not keen about.

Dear Marcus Brutus,

What where the changes that you diliked?

thank you

Changing from most frontage to closest unit for the shooting priorities. Not sure about the new VD levels for Command Routs. To be honest I think to play the game more (only 1 game so far) before I know how I feel about other changes.

Have they said when they will be releasing a PDF version on say WargamesVault?

Marcus Brutus22 Jan 2019 7:06 a.m. PST

I would expect in a few years like the first edition. I think there is no chance of a pdf coming out immediately.

Looking forward to my set arriving

cytaylor01 Feb 2019 5:48 a.m. PST

I assume Impetus 2 and Basic Impetus 2 are completely different things. The extra impetus books are the army list books. Do these work with the Impetus 2 new rules?
thanks

Marcus Brutus01 Feb 2019 6:45 a.m. PST

Impetus 2 and Basic Impetus 2 are different sets but not completely different since they use similar mechanics. BI functions as a DBA equivalent whereas Impetus is a full set and competes against Hail Caesar, FOG and such. The EI lists are still operative but a new set lists is in the offing (although nothing in the immediate future.)

thanks for the information!

Basic is like a Bleeped text, fast and furious, sort of satisfactory, gets a result.

Advanced is like a full session with forplay, lots of ups and downs, normally with a satisfactory and very pleasant result. Prefer impetus myself
