Has anyone seen or even heard about a rule system simply known as "Tercio" They came out in the late 80s or early 90s as I recall. Really nice easy system, would have to be easy for me, and they had really good sample army lists in the back. Not too expensive, probably 30 pages of rules, the rest of the booklet was army lists. They are out of print but I am looking to get a copy as my copy has gone AWOL. |

I have hardcopies of both the original Liber Militum 'Tercios' as well as the "Kingdoms' Expansion. I want to sell both together for $20.00 USD USD plus buyer pays shipping. I am in the USA, so if sent by USPS will use a flat rate envelope or box. I take PayPal. If interested, please email me at: sheajoe(dot)eddy(at)mchsi(dot)com. Thanks, Joe. |

I hate to spoil a potential sale, but there may just be a bit of miscommunication here. Liber Militum's Tercios and the Kingdoms expansion are NOT "late 80s or early 90s" rules. Tercios is copyrighted 2015 and Kingdoms 2016. Your other points about length of rules and army lists do sort of describe Tercios and Kingdoms. Boardgame Geek has a description and a link to a pdf copy of a simplified version of Tercios rules (so you can compare the brief version to what you remember to see whether they are the same) here: link So if what you really want is a new copy of 30-year old set of rules you had back in the day, then Liber Militum Tercios and Kingdoms is not it. But if you want a good set of Pike and Shot rules for the 30 years war and surrounding periods (Kingdoms is for ECW and other wars), Tercios and Kingdoms may very well fit the bill. Oh, and all the sources which I know of for Tercios (and Kingdoms) are presently out of stock, and the web site for El Kraken Released, the publisher of Tercios, has shut down. So Joe1870 may well be your only source for the Liber Militum rules. |

The old Tercio rules was a disaster in my opinion. Typical of English rules writing of the 1980s. Overly intricate and complex with lists of modifiers. I think the new Tercios seems a better bet. |

Von Schwartz, if you do decide you want the newer Liber Militum Tercios and Kingdoms, the price Joe quoted you is a bargain. |

That Tercio would be by Peter Harris and published by Tabletop Games. Typical for 70's/80's rules I guess. Nice army lists, post 1410 Teutonic Order, like that. There is one on ebay for 15$. |

To Marcus, the rules you described would not be the ones, the rules we used were very simple and easy to understand, real "beer and pretzels" rules. They did provide a nice mix combining some specific national characteristics and a few fire and melee modifiers, but I would not say that they were overly intricate. I don't know how important it is but I had two sets, one original and one updated version which basically only corrected some proofreading errors in the first, both were soft cover booklets with orange covers. The ones described by Olivero sound like the ones and Peter Harris sounds familiar. May have been the 70s, I only came upon them in the 80s, the lists were post 1400 up to late 1600s, could be used for siege of Vienna. Sorry Joe, wrong rule set. |

Marcus is correct as I had the old Tercio rules, which were very typical of the entire series of Tabletop's series. The closest thing I could think of would be the WRG 6th Ancients or Newbury's fast play rules, where there are a lot of procedural steps, modifiers, etc. Great for back in the day, but good luck finding anyone who would want to play today. |

As the OP noted, the El Kraken Released rules are different. However, they are an easy set of rules to play and I find them fun while capturing the flavour of the era. El Kraken Released appears to be in business and is currently preparing shipment of their latest Kickstarter campaign for Ottomans. Contact El Kraken Released for detail regarding their rules, or order online. I ordered both Tercios and Kingdom rules along with several packs of their exquisite Spanish a few months ago and tracked shipment was fast. Communication was timely and personal, as well as professional. terciosminiatures.com Scroll to pages 2 and 3 in their online shop to order rules. Communicate by email to the address support@terciosminiatures.com, by phone to (+34)928245194, or by ordinary mail: EL KRAKEN C / Suárez Naranjo 78, Local 10 35004 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria |

Condotta, thanks for the current information on El Kraken Released. They have apparently abandoned an older web site. The older one, using el kraken name and Spain nationality location, now takes you to a Spanish Nike site. I'm glad El Kraken is still in business. The rules are well done, and their 28mm figures are gorgeous. |

Love the detail of Tercio by Peter Harris. We have played it since even the earlier editions. |
