Going to do British and Russian forces for the Gale Force Nine,Tanks Modern game. I'm in the US and was wondering if the 6th Guards is still part of your army.

No it isn't. I am not sure if that formation survived past WW2.

AFAIK it was a wartime only formation, and many of the units were converted infantry battalions who were disbanded or reverted to their former role.

The Armoured and Armoured recce units which made it into the postwar army were the more traditional Royal Tank Regiment and cavalry units.

If you want some "guards" cavalry regiments, the Household Cavalry and Blues and Royal might be suitable.

I found this link from a veteran of the formation (from 3 Scots Guards). Apparently they handed their tanks back even before VE day (it is on reel 6, about 23:30).

According to the Imperial War Museum:

" On 17 June 1945 [6th Guards Tank Brigade] converted from armour to infantry and was redesignated 6 Guards Brigade and became part of Guards Division, which had itself converted from Guards Armoured Division to an infantry division on 12 June."
