Writing in Slingshot 321, Mark Wilson asserts that Hussites "…don't give interesting battles between two forces of equal Points… The two generals might as well call it a draw straight away and adjourn to the nearest pub." Do you agree? |

Not at all! I have had some really tense, fun games with my Hussites: Historicon, 2016, with To the Strongest!
linkas well as Historicon 2013 with Band of Brothers, and we had a great game with them at Historicon ? 2007, which my late freind, Peter Hess, caused one of the most exciting games he'd ever played in. By their nature, they will sort of an "assault on a Fortess" style game. So, are games based upon Rourke's Drift, The Alamo, Helm's Deep, etc boring? |

No and if that's the case, I'd suggest another set of rules. |

It can depend on the army used by the opponent and to some extent whether the opponent is prepared to have a go. |

The Hussites should pay some points for setting up the scenery and obliging the other to assault. Good balancing will that make an interesting game, though it will probably take some time to find out what GOOD balancing is. The problem with most tabletop rules is that they ignore strategic consideratious. |

The two generals might as well call it a draw straight away and adjourn to the nearest pub. I wonder if the owner of the Hussite army would agree. Probably not. After all, he did buy it and paint it, and not so he could play for a draw every game. Mr Wilson obviously thinks that the only interesting armies are those he can easily beat. He shouldn't call Hussites "boring", simply because he lacks the imagination to figure out how to beat them. Strange. When I was a tournament player, I don't recall ever seeing Hussites as a top winner. Someone must know how to play against them. |
