Has anybody ever tried to game the Great Dalton Snowball Fight of 1864? I think it would be fun. If so, rules? |

I wonder if the rules I once wrote for the famous incident in Napoleon's time at Brienne – Snowballs at Brienne – for Miniature Wargames many years ago would offer a useful starting point? I regret I don't have an electronic copy any more after a computer failure.. |

Looks like the rules were also printed in Battlegames Issue 5 link |

My mistake, Disaster Wargamer. Thanks for the correction and reference. |

Putting rocks inside your snowballs "is right out", so verboten? |

I think there should be a penalty for rocks in snowballs, sort of liking "pushing the button." I think there was one unit that became notorious for their iceballs too, but they would take longer to form. Thanks Disaster, I'll check it out. |

I was unfamiliar with this important battle, so I Googled it. link What struck me the most was how quickly enemies became allies, once interlopers tried to come into a private fight. And that escalated up to all levels of command. I've never seen rules to cover that. Easy to rig. I think I would Game it with TSATF. Of course. With the proviso that "casualties" count for that turn only, and purely for Glory. All casualties would come back next turn, save for the dreaded Red Joker. Sorry, Johnnie. You broke your arm. It also seems that officers were preferred targets. |

Didn't know about that one, but knew of one in Virginia around the same time in the ANV. |
