Sorry I cannot help you with your question, but your link was really an eye opener for me, for two reasons;

1) the amount of color variation

2) the amount the M14 4th Type in light blue faded, evidenced by the original coloration on sleeves where rank stripes were present

I use Vallejo Mirage Blue. It needs a bit of darkening for helmets.

MIG do a set. I haven't used the horizon blue, but the British and German sets are pretty spot on. Got mine through Amazon.

Great link, and very interesting regarding color variation. Regardless of the period in which we game, the striking differences in the hue and shade of a stated color should be taken into consideration.

Which is why I always smile when someone asks which specific color to use on a particular uniform.

The illustrations show that, as far as I'm concerned, one should use the color that matches what you think it should be.

Excellent link. But I come away, again, with the absolute ridiculousness of this color chosen by the French Army.
I suppose enough trench mud and anything would be OK, but
I would feel like a neon sign in such a color on a modern battlefield.

Soldiers dressed in the Horizon Bleu uniform for Bastille Day. It was a beautiful uniform even if not so practical it was according to national colors(even if the small contigent of red dye had to be disregarded):

There is no standard as put for the hue as it varied(as quality) and faded too. These being fresh and modern reproduction.

Alternatively the uniform tested for trial in 1911 was interesting. Too similar to the German to be accepted.

I was under the impression that the actual red/white/blue thread in the uniform ended up making the overall color look rather drab, like khaki.

Problem was, the source for the red dye was in Germany, and as tensions rose there wasn't any more red dye to be had!

That whole site on French army is very informative, uniforms, equipment, weapons, pictures etc .
