I received this email today from a customer;

Hi George,
I am working with a local museum, Raychem Hall, and they want to do a large terrain board
showing the local area in the 1700's. They will need to work with small scale figures and structures
which is really not my expertise. Can you recommend the makers of 28/20mm figures and structures
from the Colonial period? Also are there any makers you know of that do small scale boats from
the 1700's.

Thanks,
Richard

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this to assist him and the museum, this is not in my wheelhouse, thanks in advance for any suggestions………

Where in the country is this? Is it farm land, or a village, or a harbor town? What does the requester mean by "colonial" as 1701 is colonial, as is 1760. Early Pennsylvania frontier, and 1760 Boston Harbor are both colonial, but they will look nothing alike.

Raychem Hall as in the Brown Lady? Big stately home which will be a massive layout and building task in 28mm (1/64th).

10mm (1/200) or 6mm (1/300) would be more suited.

If you do look at 1/300 I would recommend getting in touch with Leven Miniatures.

Look at Sarissa Precision for 1/64 laser cut buildings, many of which are useful for the Colonial period.

He can make your stuff to order nicely and not so much more expansive than many others. And you have nothing to do!
Huge number of ready made hot sun places dwelings too.

Depending on size, 6-10 mm do give a good show but will end up unrecognizable for bystanders. Grey guys.

Great, thanks for the suggestions on buildings; what about figures? Thanks…………..

Guys? I think possibly Raynham Hall? Raychem seems more into transistors than museum exhibits.

And if it is Raynham, it's the costume and architecture of Norfolk you're looking for.

Grand Manner has some nice stuff. Don't know their budget but you can get them painted.

George, Go here for your figures. The owner, Jim Purky, is a really good guy. This is his area of expertise and I'm sure he will be willing to help you.
