I've been looking at Buck Surdu's Combat Patrol rules. However, I'd be wanting to use 15mm figures on multi-bases (say 3 to a base). While it may not be too onerous to use casualty markers to mark individual figures that are killed/incapacitated etc, I get the impression that in the rules individual figures may break off from the unit due to morale. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that I don't want to use sabot bases or similar. So, bottom line, how insurmountable would it be to play the game with multi-based figures? |

Just treat each base as a figure. |

Just treating a base as a figure for rules purposes should work fine. Each multi base would fire once, just as if it was a single figure. Ditto for morale results. You could think about this in two ways: - Essentially you are scaling up the game so that a group of five multi-based figures looks like half a platoon. So you might have a platoon leader with half the platoon (five bases) and the platoon sergeant or 2IC with the other five bases. Machine-gun teams presumably are on the same multi-bases. - Treat a squad as four of your multi-bases. This would look like a fire team in the rules as written, and you would designate one of the bases as including the squad leader. Let us know what you come up with and how it works. Buck Surdu |

Wouldn't that change the interaction between infantry and support weapons and vehicles though? If a hit from the latter is effectively removing 3 figures instead of one? |

It might. The rules were written for individually mounted figures. I think it would be good for you to try it this way and let us know how it works. You might try it with just infantry first. Buck |

OK, thanks. It'll be a while, I haven't actually got the rules yet…. Thinking about it, I might do some single bases to replace the multi-bases if troops split up due to morale. It depends on how often it happens I guess. |

Thawing a few single mounted figures might be best. |

Finally got around to playing the game. I don't think multi-bases will work at all. On the plus side however, it was a really good game, everyone picked it up quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some great ideas in there and I'll certainly revisit it. Just might have to do a separate platoon of single figures….. |
