Your little figures are driving a herd of longhorns (Red R.ver?).
Get along little doggie…….
What proportion of the 1000 cattle are male, female?

In many farms the majority of animals are female cows. An occasional Bull is there for "thingy". True in cross country longhorn herds too?

A lot of steers (ex-bulls), I would think.

Cattle skew to nominally more males (52%) but few bulls are necessary to breed. Usually males were castrated at branding. Unless times are desperate, you would not sell off your breeding stock so I am guessing a cattle drive to be mostly or all steers.

Also Many longhorn weren'y breed but round up from wild herds for drive to Kansas.

That is all very useful. Thank you.

Cool! 15mm longhorns would be useful for "baggage" in other times and places…
