A bona-fide miniatures wargaming review this week. And, no, I'm NOT doing an Age of Eagles version for the TYW and ECW, but this innovative set of rules is really a top buy for any Pike & Shot aficionado. link Ciao, Colonel Bill |

When do expect to have these available for shipping in the USA? |

Shipping isn't too bad from the UK to Canada. Much cheaper to get stuff from the UK than the US for we Northern Colonials. I've got the earlier WSS Twilight set of rules. I'd be interested to see the ECW version. |

What are the base and unit sizes? Didn't see them in the review or the P&s Society webpage. |

Mirosav, in the earlier Twilight of the Sun King, all troops are based on 40mmx20mm bases. Units are two stands, and represent about 2000 infantry. That said, the rules mention that differently based figures are fine, as long as a unit's frontage is about 800 paces. Mind you, I just noticed that "Twilight of the Sun King" is £12.00 GBP for the public. I suspect my edition (Version 1.1) might be a bit out of date, as it is only a 6 page book, which seems a trifle thin for a 12 quid price tag! And I just followed Col Bill's link to his earlier review and discovered that I am indeed correct. There is a newer version, and the bases have been increased to a 60mm frontage. Still two stands per unit. |

The size of the bases is not important in the rules. All distance measurements are based on the frontage of the bases you use. Units are nominally 2 bases but again that doesn't matter in practice. The above basic measurement is half the frontage of a unit and the number of bases/how you do that is up to you. We normally recommend having a unit with a frontage of 80mm to 120mm as this will mean most battles are played on a table 4' (120cm) to 6' (180cm) wide but this is the only reason for it. |

How do the rules scale for the ECW given that the armies were often very small? I Very much like the idea of assumed combat. |

The rules are very much aimed at the big battles with an ECW unit being around 1000 infantry or 500 cavalry. Some people have used them scaled down for smaller battles and they should be fine but they are not really designed for that. |

Sorry I'm confused now – Cherition and Cropredy are in the scenario books and they are small battles. |

I guess it depends on what you see as 'small'. With these rules Cheriton is a small action which is a good battle for players new to the system. Cropredy is larger and one of the bigger battles of the war. It is also interesting as it is an unusual fight. Generally the ECW battles are not massive but these are the larger battles of the war. |
