Hello everyone,

In your opinion what 25/30 mm figures of what manufactures represent movie characters usable to play in a historical wargame on the ancients period?

Warlord Games has a couple of Roman minis based on film characters. Their Boudica in chariot figure seems to be based on Alex Kingston's Boudica character from the film Warrior Queen.

What characters are you interested in?

All the figurines look like actors who have played if possible roles of historical characters in a movie or TV or in a TV series over this period so that we can use them in a historical wargame.
If the figures do not resemble the actors of the movies and / or series, no interest …

Foundry has a couple figures based on the 2004 film, "Troy." They also have a King Aeetes spreading the dragon's teeth to summon the "Children of the Night" (or some such designation), along with some of his guards, from the Ray Harryhausen version of "Jason & the Argonaughts." The Argonaughts themselves from the same line, OtoH, to ME anyway, do not look anything like the crew from the film.

Yes that's right and what else?

A bit of a stretch here, but Hasslefree have two figures called Rennie and Tilda which are based on Asterix and Obelix, but female. Rennie appears to be modelled on Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the 90s tv series.

Hold on while we are there; there would not be collections of figurines of reasonable size with all the characters of Asterix and Obelix and especially the Roman army with all his corps of troops to thus mount games army?

Aren't there actually some OoP (but still "find-able" on eVil_Bay) 25/28mm "scaled" Asterix figures?? That includes some of the Romans, not just the Gauls?? "Comical," of course, but still of interest??

Damion01 Jan 2019 9:26 p.m. PST

Yes, I use to have some but sold them a couple of years back. Had about half a dozen each of the gauls and romans.

Here's a site that lists them:

It's nice but there must be something else, enough to build a ancients wargame army…
