No, not that battle in particular. Let's face it, it's a Massacre of the Innocents.

No, I'm looking for rules for that TYPE of battle. Small boats, few guns, hiding behind wooded islands. That kind of thing.

And not just a set of Trafalgar rules scaled down either, so each ship has one hull box. grin

I'm looking for …. Well, I said it above.

Winston,

You might want to take a look at a set of rules titled "Sea Eagles" from Thoroughbred Figures. They're written for the War of 1812, but would very likely fit the bill for Valcour Island style actions. They are designed for small boats with few guns, so you might find they'll work for you as you might hope. Not to mention some of the boats Toby offers will fit your needs.

"Away Boarders" was designed to do just what you have described:

Another vote for "Sea Eagles"! THe rules are super easy to get a feel for, and they play well. I've used them many times playing 15mm small ship actions(using lots of 1/100 models and such), and for 1/300 as well, with the change from measuring in inches to centimeters. The rules play very well in both scales, and as vagamer63 says, the miniatures Thoroughbred produces are outstanding!

Modify the TSATF rules for gunboats. The boats are class IV targets, maybe two crew per gun to keep them from becoming overwhelming.
