Do you have a minis resolution?

I had already started thinking about a concrete goal, but then Extra Crispy posted his Ultra Pledge

so that made up my mind. I'm setting a new years resolution for painting, well one concrete one and two minor ones.

Goal 1: I am going to paint 350 minis in 2019. One a day, rounded down to a nice clean number. I think this is possible based one two goals I already had. I want to start a Soviet army for Bolt Action, which I'll use Army Painter color matched primer and 'The Dip' method to knock out about 100 infantry and I want to paint the roughly 50 Terminator minis I got on Warlord's $1.50 USD sprue sale. I can generally do about 10 28mm minis a week if I spend one hour a night 3-4 nights a week painting. This gives me some leeway for the weeks I'll miss or the slow down.

Goal 2: Don't buy any more minis! Well kinda… When I started my new job this year I splurged and started getting two lines of minis I've been drooling over for a LONG time. Starship Troopers and the Dreakforge Games Eisenkern to use as Space Nazi's. I still want a couple pieces of each line and I've been looking at Ebay daily to grab them. I've also made some allowances for filling some niches in my new Soviet army, but only if I can grab them on sale…

Goal 3: Get rid of stuff I'll never use. We're probably moving in a year and I don't want to move stuff I moved in here six years ago and haven't used since. There's some other stuff that I've picked up and it's become obvious that I won't use or wound up not liking (Wargames Factory Vikings, I'm looking at you!). We also have a storage facility we needed to get when my mother moved in and we've been slowly getting rid of things in there with the intention to move to a smaller unit and save money, so this is more of an extension of an on going project.

So put a dent in the lead pile, try not to grow it, and get rid of what I won't use. When I moved six years ago I had RPGs in boxes where I moved them into the attic a decade before. When we were getting ready to move mom in with us I looked through all of the novels, DVDs and video games no one was ever going to read or play again and now thinking about moving soonish I'm thinking about the minis I don't want to put into storage and PAY to not use…

Resolutions are depressing. I refuse to make any.

Sounds Like a solid plan.

I shall spend 2019 the way I spent 2016, 2017 and 2018--selling off duplicative and/or incomplete projects while finishing off others, and searching for miniatures gamers near my home.

I am not a congress. I don't need no stinking resolution.

Finish off basing my 6mm Napoleonics

Complete my SYW Austrian dragoons (28mm, 2 regiments)

Finish my Imaginations infantry brigade (basing, command, battery, 2 infantry battalions)

Anything else is gravy

This is not a RESOLUTION!
I would kind of like to finish all the minis I need for a scenario before I have another brilliant idea for another one.
Right now I have 5.5 brilliant ideas.

Finally get my lead/plastic mountain to zero. I'm in double digits, finally, so it might happen.

Maybe.

(No more Kickstarters for old school minis… ok? Save them for 2020!)

Finishing my Russian army, could do it in two big purchases ( for me)

You say you want a resolution
Well, you know
We all want to paint the world
My warriors are Lilliputian
Well, you know
We all want to paint the world

Paint more, game more, work less. Good to have goals I suppose.

Finish two forces – of some kind
Paint 500 miniatures (I have to have 96 painted for a competition in 5 weeks)
Play 6 games with my dad (1 per every 2 month time period)

Paint more, game more, work less. Good to have goals I suppose.

And those are excellent goals. I have the same.

Right now I have 5.5 brilliant ideas.

So is half a brilliant idea just a good idea?
