Do you game in the genre of John Carter on Mars, or any VSF gaming on Mars?

Theoretically I could, but so far I've kept my etherflyers on Earth.

Skeets Supporting Member of TMP12 Dec 2018 9:39 p.m. PST

Working on it but haven't enough to play yet, nor have I found a set of rules.

Winston Smith12 Dec 2018 10:20 p.m. PST

No

gisbygeo12 Dec 2018 11:27 p.m. PST

Mille fois yes.

Never!

Patrick R13 Dec 2018 2:11 a.m. PST

Have rules, figures, even an RPG, just never expanded it properly.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP13 Dec 2018 2:55 a.m. PST

Yes with the old Heritage John Carter figures & rules

athun2513 Dec 2018 5:01 a.m. PST

Yes, plenty. We use VFS ( Valor, Steele and Flesh ) as our rule set for this any pulp games we do. Like all things Parroom Station, they are OOP.

No

I use some minis intended for it but the background does not appeal for gaming.

I have played in someone else's game.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP13 Dec 2018 7:48 a.m. PST

I have Barsoomian figures and rules, but I balk as calling it Victorian Science Fiction. I for one could happily live the rest of my wargaming career without seeing another regiment of red tunics and pith helmets on reddish earth bases.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP13 Dec 2018 8:35 a.m. PST

Be interested in playing but as for so of the above in someone else's game

No … but I do have some "Martian" terrain for my 6mm Sci-fi gaming … evil grin

I wish.

Cyrus the Great13 Dec 2018 10:24 a.m. PST

I have all the ingredients, including figures on my painting table, so yes, eventually.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Dec 2018 10:28 a.m. PST

I also have figures but never gamed. Old Heritage ones.

martin goddard Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Dec 2018 11:02 a.m. PST

Yes. Greens versus reds.

evilgong13 Dec 2018 11:45 a.m. PST

Yes, in 15mm Hott, with other people's figs

SpuriousMilius13 Dec 2018 12:19 p.m. PST

Yes, sporadically since the late 70's when "Warriors of Mars & the "Barsoomian Battle Manual" were published & the Heritage minis were available. My interest was renewed with the discovery of the excellent Bronze Age minis for the genre. I've run several Barsoom Convention games; for rules I now use modified "Mordheim".

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP13 Dec 2018 2:41 p.m. PST

With Spurious Milius.

Mooseworks813 Dec 2018 2:53 p.m. PST

Yes

Kropotkin30313 Dec 2018 3:02 p.m. PST

I would love to create some Barsoom HOTT armies. Have read the first 2 books and love the setting and the armies. As I am a 25mm gamer I would like to find a range that is good to use.
Heritage sounds good, but hard to find.

For those who have done Barsoom please post pics.

I'm curious to try a "Tripods" vs WW1 or WW2 tech game but that's the extent of my interest.

brass113 Dec 2018 4:26 p.m. PST

Nope.

A couple of times, more Space:1889

Chuckaroobob13 Dec 2018 10:52 p.m. PST

Gamed it a couple times back in the good ole days using Space 1889 "The Soldier's Companion."

Lion in the Stars14 Dec 2018 1:03 p.m. PST

I think I lean more towards Space:1889 than John Carter of Mars.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP17 Dec 2018 10:17 a.m. PST

Recently played a couple of games with Martian Empires not-Tharks et al versus some Brits with landships courtesy of Chris Palmer, in 15/18mm.

First game was a Fistful of Lead variation, second Chris' G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T.

Others found both unbalanced; I had a smashing good time, whether winning or losing. ;->=

Our Barsoom is often 'tainted' by 1889 and other sources, to tell the truth.

Working on the figs and Terrain for a Con next Sept. as a matter of fact . Will post some pics as I go !

mrinku25 Dec 2018 1:34 p.m. PST

Always wanted to be. I have a side project making Green Martians from Kroot plastics, which others have done before me.

The Last Conformist26 Dec 2018 11:26 a.m. PST

I've roleplayed in the Space 1889 version of Mars, but we didn't use miniatures.

The closest I've got to minis-gaming it is buying the Martian Empires rulebook: actually painting minis, making terrain, or recruiting players for it on the "maybe someday" list.
