I've been interested in Liber Militum Tercios rules since they came out. Was wondering if you any TMPers are using them for TYW and ECW (I notice they came out with a supplement for ECW and Eastern Europe.) Opinions and such are most appreciated.

Like yourself, I was also curious so ordered both the rules and the ECW supplement. With the caveat that – like so many of my rules collection – they are thus far remained unplayed, they look interesting. I like the fact that they have a variety of the pike and shot formations that evolved during this period. (Unlike, say, DBR). The units have a "stat line", and can vary in morale grades, so there some marked differences between the various types.

The army lists are, to my eye, oddly presented, but eventually my brain, far too used to WRG style lists, figured it out.

There is a stripped down free PDF version, which is quite playable and gives a great feel for the rules. (Which is why I took the plunge and actually bought them). Sadly, the publisher's website is gone now, AFAIK. If you don't already have them, drop me a line at tonystapells19 – at -gmail.com and I'll send them to you.

(Oh wait. They changed their domain name. terciosminiatures.com But I don't see that they have that download available anymore. Well, I'm quite happy that at least they still exist!)

Aha! Those are the very ones I was referring to! Thanks for having more and better search skills than me, 22ndFoot

I own them and the supplement. Have yet to play them but have read thru them several times and I really like what I have read. To echo Tony, the army lists are a little odd to the eye and some of the terms used to describe the units are a bit different but nothing major and easily overcome. I'm building 10mm ECW Armies for them and plan to use them for the late 16th century as well.

Ha! I was planning on 10mm for ECW as well PAR! I'm currently waffling between Irregular and Pendraken. I love the Pendraken figures, at least for 1859, and I'm sure they are the same high quality for the ECW/TYW. That said, Irregular sell figures individually, which is a big plus. Pendraken packs tend to include line and command, so I'm often stuck with a lot of extra figures. I've heard the Pendraken and Irregular foot mix nicely, but Irregular cavalry are a bit smallish.

I did order some Old Glory 10mm ECW awhile ago, but did not like the thick, thick bases on the figures. It looked like they were all standing atop three foot mounds of dirt, so I gave them away. No doubt the gentleman I gave them to will paint them and they will look fantastic and I'll regret my haughty attitude.

What manufacturer are you using?

Tony: I'm a big fan of Pendraken and the OG strips make painting easy. I had the opportunity to jump in on Lancer's 10mm ECW Kickstarter. I picked up a few Armies and then bought some more Lancer cheap on the TMP marketplace. As it stands, I have a heap of the Lancer figures. Here are some of mine painted up and based for Tercios:

Thanks for the input. I think will put an order into North Star for them.

Tony S13 Dec 2018 2:06 p.m. PST

Not only are those really figures, but your painting is exquisite! That's another plus for Tercios – the big bases make your regiments look amazing. Nicely done. I'll have to check them out.

(I would point out to others thinking of trying "Tercios" that the recommended basing is all multiples of 40mm width, so if you've already got ECW/TYW armies based for the WRG rules standards, you do not need to rebase).

Yes, I agree that PAR's 10mm figures look great. I am planning to game TYW/ECW in 28mm so that would make 12cm frontages. Tercios looks like an Impetus derived system which I like.

Thanks for the kind words gents, I need to get back to this project.

Where can we buy the Order Cards? Are they available? Do not want the extra work of printing and gluing front to back.
