Curious…

The Italian tanks appear to have Bren guns as AA MGs.

Was this a common practice among Italian tankers?

Or perhaps is it a kit accessory (for building an M13 / M14 in Aussie hands) that got extended beyond it's original intentions? Or maybe some other MG that was used by the Italians that I am not familiar with? (Similar looking guns were used by French and Romanian forces, after all.)
