I intend, for 2019, not to buy a single piece of hobby kit. The goal is to see how much of the unpainted/WIP I can finish or get rid of via sale or trade. Frankly, I have more kit than I can use in many cases. I only keep adding because I enjoy the modeling aspect of the hobby. Probably in 2020 I might do a big sell off of excess gear just to clear room for more. The rules for the 2019 Ultra Pledge are as follows: 1. Cash may be spent on glue, paint, bases and flocking supplies. 2. No purchases of minis, or terrain allowed. 3. Trades for painted or unpainted allowed, regardless of quantities involved. 4. Sales of excess lead for cash are allowed. 5. Painting services may only be used if costs are offset by cash sales of excess lead. 6. A record of all painting and transactions will be kept, just to keep it honest. 7. Rulebook collecting, being a separate hobby, is not covered under the pledge. This applies to models, not rule books. (One exception: I have one outstanding order for 30 mounted Border Reivers destined to become hidden unit markers which may not be delivered prior to the end of 2018). I'll be posting monthly updates here to see how it goes. |

EC, Now that's a a resolution I think most if not all of us need to try. I think I might do that. I too have a Kickstarter I paid for several months back for some WWII Hungarians which should be arriving mid-2019. I figure, no new money spent, so that would be ok. Will be following your progress and hope to match. P. |

I think I'll try REALLY hard to match this |

Same here, I need to get stuff done and start using it. |

Can't do this. Song of Ice and Fire has new minis coming out in January…. |

No can do. The net wargaming stuff by weight or volume continues to go down, but I'm going to buy as necessary to get my remaining armies fit to game with. |

We look forward to hearing from you a year from now about how 2019 went! |

No point in making promises I can't keep. I will keep buying new stuff and adding to the pile. Might even get to play with some. |

@Robert P: That's what I did this year, so in part I need to paint the stuff I bought! |

I'm on the "nothing new" band wagon into 2019 as well. I did manage to go 11 months, with no new purchases, but broke down here at the end of the year and spent about 200 bucks. So I can claim a minor victory. |

Titchmonster, sorry my man, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, and tactical nuclear warfare. |

This encourages me to do the same! |

I resolve to not make any resolutions … about anything |

EC – Count me in… Over the weekend I may just take a full accounting of the lead pile. This was the first year that I keep a legit painting log and now have a good idea of how much I can consistently paint in a years time… Unlike you, I will be including rulesets & books bought as I spent 2018 catching up on any I might have been interested in… Looking forward to tracking the progress and seeing the completion of collections I started 30 years ago… Madcam. |

I've been thinking about how to tackle this, and I think I'm going to proceed as follows: simply tackle the pile one box at a time. Fortunately, I'm an organized fellow so all my unpainted lead is in labeled boxes by project. So "Lord of the Rings" in one box, "MicroArmor" in another, "6mm ACW" in yet another. A lot of my unpainted was acquired as part of lots with painted where I only wanted the painted so a fair amount here will get sold/traded I think, but the rest will get finished. I also have a few boxes of "work in progress" things I started painting and never finished. But I think switching will allow me to suit my fancy and prevent me from getting bored. I know if I tell myself "I'll do ALL the Napoleoncis first!" it will be harder to keep on track than if I jump around. Do a little on the Bavarians, then do some 6mm SciFi tanks, then some 15mm Vikings, and so on….. Well, that's the plan anyway. |

It's good to have a plan. While I know I'll buy some new figures in the coming year my plan is to keep it to two projects that I already have. I'd also like to tighten up the budget. I have a sheet I've been using for the last four years that helps. We'll see |
