Having (digitally) dusted off my pdf of FFT3, I've gotten this kooky idea of doing an Arnhem table at about 1:4000 (1" = 100 meters).

That's not that much table space as it turns out, and I'm thinking of doing 3mm miniatures and buildings. Probably terrain from Pico and maybe some Paper Terrain (I see Scott has a 3mm European set, for example).

I'm wondering if folks have any suggestions on a good Arnhem bridge to use. Not sure what would look right on the table top.

Our forthcoming Arnhem participation game features a Leven miniatures 6mm arched girder rail bridge as Arnhem Bridge.

It would certainly do for the centre span although you'd need to build up the approach ramps yourself.

If no one has one check Thingiverse and see if someone has made a model of a bridge that could suffice.

Tiniest ones….

Thanks, all. I had never heard of Leven.

I wasn't aware Brigade did anything that small (I'm distracted by their 15mm sci-fi!).

Something really small like that and notional (scaled more to the 1:4000 map) might make more sense than a full 1:600 scale bridge.

There's a Z-scale Railroad bridge which I thought would be good for 6mm.

Might work for 3mm too.

Has the curved supporting structure overhead.

It should look something like this:

In 4000 scale it would need to be photo-etched surely?

Nice pic, Moebius. Where's it from?

Mobius11 Dec 2018 5:23 p.m. PST

It was at a convention battle we had over a 3 day weekend 1985.

That's what the Z-scale one looks like.

Great setup, Mobius!

We played in shifts day and night over 3 days. I never want to play Arnhem bridge again. :)

A couple people were at this end and we had boards that kept being placed for XXX Corps to advance on for another group.

Having not gamed in 3mm before, the big question (or little!) is how to scale the terrain.

The bridge itself should probably be scaled down since FFT is platoon basing rather than 1:1.

I'm not sure if I want to go with scaled down buildings (Brigade's 2mm) to create a denser look, or 3mm to keep them scaled to the minis.

We played in shifts day and night over 3 days.

"Two days, they told us. We've been here for nine!"
