Rest in peace. I had the opportunity to meet Colonel Charles McGee at the Udvar Hazy museum this past summer. It was a great honor to meet him and talk briefly about the experiences of the Tuskegee airmen. My grandfather, a B24 bombardier, always spoke very highly of the Red Tails. He stated that they always did their job and protected the bombers better than most escorts.
