Makes you wonder what happened to them all after the Roman conquest. Were they all just quietly disposed of in the back garden or was there a collectors market for such things that kept them in circulation for awhile. |

Incidentally, the C3 BC Gallic site of Ribemont-sur-Ancre contained the remains of over 1,500 corpses, 500 of which had been actually propped up in ranks with their armour and weapons as a gruesome trophy. No sign of the skulls… |
