I'm thinking of starting some Team Yankee forces but the prices are almost prohibitive. For a 100 point soviet force I'm looking at $568.50 USD if I purchase from Battlefront. Doing the same force but using QRF for vehicles would drop it to $450.74 USD. Still pricy for a fairly small 15mm army but over $100 USD cheaper at least.

Question is, are the QRF vehicles of equivalent quality (I've never ordered from them so I'm truly clueless.)

Thanks for any input!

QRF offers a lot of stuff but I would say that for the same vehicle that Battlefront is better.

Have you looked at Plastic Soldier Company?

Just about every manufacturer of 15mm figures is half to 2/3 the price of Battlefront.
I see no gap in quality of the cheaper products. In fact, in many cases I prefer the quality of the cheaper brands.

BF is my supplier of last resort. It is sooo expensive.

I've got a fair bit of QRF stuff, it is fine, and reasonably priced.

Exactly. I buy Battlefront if nobody else makes what I want.
Or if it's amazingly cheap on eBay, a flea market or Black Friday sale.
One example. I have 15 American half tracks, plus all the Infantry etc because I traded some very nice ACW figures I was never going to paint for 3 boxes of the American Armored Rifle platoon. Nice figures but I would have gone the Old Glory route if I had to buy them.

But then, they ARE the official figures, Chapter Approved, for Flames of War V4.

Consider the cost savings by looking from H&R heroicsandros.co.uk to GHQ ghqmodels.com . If you retain sufficient visual acuity. wink

All most all of my West Germans are QRF, good metal miniatures with good detail, plus QRF has West German infantry way before Battlefront. So if I have a choice I'm taking QRF over Battlefront.

Try PSC for the tanks. Should save you about 33% over BF.

I like the QRF West German troops too.

Their vehicles are serviceable, but Battlefront's are of higher overall quality – especially the running gear (bogies and treads).

This is my own thoughts.

however, it is more likely that BF don't make the vehicles and guns that QRF do make, than the other way around.

Loyd carriers, lanchester armoured cars, belgian vehicles, French conversions of trucks, stuart jalopies.

and QRF do not do models which have moulded on resin bases.

One of my favourites from QRF is their Matador truck and they do excellent BLT's

On saying that BF are the quality product for most of the standard armoured cars and it is difficult to look past them.

I think battlefront quality is better but you pay for it. It also depends a bit on the model and how much detail is important to you. Battlefront often has decals and figures. Important to me sometimes but not if I need 5 halftracks

QRF models are slowly being updated starting with early WW2 stuff. This according to the news letter may make them better value and even more competitive than before.

Battlefront quality is difficult to beat but you pay for it.

Have you considered 10mm ?

A good compromise between 15mm and 6mm.

Minifigs, Timecast and Butlers between them cover most countries.

QRF vehicles are a complete disaster in my view. They are wobbly as they often fit together poorly. They are all totally lead and most turrets have seam lines. I won't get any more of them and I'll happily pay 10% more for a high quality plastic model.

Gaming Models has solid quality and 5.00 USD each painted and assembled can't be beat!
