So my pledge for 2019: No spending money on miniatures. Not a dollar or a dime. Ditto for terrain. Only paint, glue and X-acto blades. |

You're a brave man. Very brave. Best of luck with this endeavor. |

Anyone up for a "how long can he last" pool? |
Zinkala | 30 Nov 2018 4:35 p.m. PST |
I did that for a couple years. It was depressing and I hope it never happens again. Best of luck. |

Frankly, I have too much stuff as it is…. |
Grelber | 30 Nov 2018 5:01 p.m. PST |
I tried that a couple times, too. I did leave myself a few openings, basically one or two specific packs of figures (if they came out) and I allowed myself to buy a few figures as souvenirs if I went someplace exciting. Denver, 60 miles away, didn't count; Sydney, 12,000 miles away, did. Always glad to come to the end of the year and place an order New Years Day. Best of luck! Grelber |

That will be a tough one. Good luck Mark! |

Good Luck Mark. I'm trying that also since I have way too much, in fact I've been selling off stuff as much as I can. |

Might as well promise not to die. |

Yeah, the pledge is fine but you should grant yourself cheat treats. Like every 4 months without purchase, you can grant yourself a USD 120 spend (up to) |

I too am committing to no "PURCHASES" for 2019… However, as I pare down my lead piles, I will allow myself to trade existing stock for items I end up wanting/needing… Probably going to give up my 28mm sci-fi collection (mostly GW stuff Space Wolves stuck on spures) 15mm SYW Old Glory unpainted lead 15mm Ancients again mostly unpainted lead but will probably give up some armies I started 15+ years ago 15mm WWII unpainted stock (crap-tonnes!) I want to attempt to complete the following projects: 100 28mm WWII FJs 20 odd 28mm Soviets 4 1/56 WWII tanks/vehicles Remaining 15mm Napoleonic Britsh 500+ figures 10 remaining 15mm ACW buildings (Building in Turmoil) 20 remaining 15mm Napoleonic buildings (tiger Terrain) Remaining 15mm Napoleonic French 500+ figures this was the first year I actually tracked my painting log so believe the above is quite do-able. Wish me luck!!! Madcam. |

Hmm. I have taken no such pledge, but over the last three years what I have spent on new lead and plastic has been substantially less than what I've sold wargaming gear for. If things break right this year or possibly this year and next, I will own no army which is not painted and ready to game. There will be lead and plastic to paint, because I enjoy creating units, but no project will be at the "you haven't got enough of them for a game" stage. |

My New Year's resolution or pledge is always the same … To resolve to make No New Year's resolution/pledge … |

@repaint: $120 USD every four months would only be a slight decrease compared to 2019 in which I bought some terrain and two painted Flames of War armies…. @Robert Piepenprink and Madcam: About ten years ago I did a massive sell off, dropped every scale except 6mm and 15mm. Dumped every project that would not be completed in 12 months time. With the money raised I sent boxes off to painters. in 6 months I ended up with loads of newly completed armies. Not that I don't still add to them, but everything went from "work in progress" to "I can play a game with this." At this point I have no "partial" armies. All my armies are complete enough to get in a good sized game with. The only new project I've added in 5 years was a small 28mm Border Reivers skirmish force as part of a club group build. But that was small and is now finished. I leave them at the club for all to use. |

Are we going to find him in a few months curled up in a fetal position under the dining room table? |

If I could just stop with magazines, books, reference materials, etc. the hobby would be cheaper. |
