I've never heard of the designation WOT. Sounds wrong. These vehicles were called lorries by the British in the 1940s. Not trucks. So it seems unlikely.

I'm happy to be proved wrong though, if someone knows more…

Afaik
Fordson manufactured the wot6.
Being american they called it a truck

The UK arm of Ford produced a number of vehicles for the British Army during WWII with names starting with the letters WO. Specifically regarding trucks Ford made the WOT1, 2, 3, 6 and 8.

So it sounds like it was a Ford designation and not a War Office one. That makes much more sense!
