The film tells about the Siberian 321 division, which fought first on the outskirts of Stalingrad, and then in the city itself. In the teaser you will see the Romanian infantry, the attack of the Kalmyk cavalry, as well as good fighting scenes.

Romanians! My absolute favorite FOW army. Just picked up some 28mm Romanians from Great Escape Games for Bolt Action and our usual Weird World War II games. Film does look great.

Agreed!

Too much camera shake in the close-up fighting, but apart from that, it looks excellent!

The lack of "Extreme Heroics"(*) is an encouraging sign.

(*) – A squad/platoon continuing to fight well after being set on fire (Stalingrad). The insane martial arts in other Russian movies.

Looks well-made, gritty and realistic. Looking forward to watching it!

This episode from the Bondarchuk movie is based on a real fact. Of course, in the feature film, the episode is somewhat strengthened, but it is described in many memoirs of the battle participants. Sorry for any errors, I use Google translator to translate text into English:

"Having noticed the accumulation of our infantry at the gasoline base, the fascists opened a massive mortar and artillery fire. Then the bombs fell from the dive bombers. Flames shot up over the gasoline base, the gas tanks started to burst, the ground caught fire. Over the rows of attacking sailors giant tongues of flame darted around with a deafening roar. One more minute – and we will all turn to embers, to ashes…
- Forward! Forward!
Soldiers and sailors, engulfed in fire, on the move they threw off their burning clothes – but did not throw their weapons. Attack of naked burning people … What the fascists thought about us at this moment – I don't know. Perhaps, they decided that we were devils or for saints, whom the fire did not take, and therefore they ran without looking back. We knocked them out of the village, adjacent to the gasoline base, and stopped at the extreme western street, lay down among the small individual houses of which this street consisted. Here someone gave me a raincoat-tent, and I somehow covered my nakedness".

The book Vasily Zaitsev "Beyond the Volga there is no land for us. Sniper's notes."
If you have seen the film "The Enemy at the Gates", then you know who Vasily Zaytsev is.

With the fact that Russian films have many fantasies – I agree. But is it more than in Hollywood? ;)

In some way camera shake makes it like you are there

I swear that all those recent russian made war movies looks all the same to me. Hard to tell them apart.
