3 wins in a row in rapid play, and the match is over. Magnus Carlsen retains his title. Honestly, I thought Caruana made some pretty poor moves in the final game, though perhaps my choices wouldn't have been better in the long run. In any case, congrats to Carlsen and Norway! |

Svidler and Giri commented in the last game that Magnus wasn't playing like a nice guy. This adds more psychology to Magnus's play. He proposed a draw in a game he was winning in the Classic format. I think that psyched out Caruana. Watching computers play is nothing but a novelty. You can't psych out a super computer line you can a human. That's why humans deliberately choose lines that they think their opponent would be unfamiliar with. It wouldn't matter to an engine. |
