Anyone have a set up where their trees are removable from their base? If so, mind sharing your techniques? Anyone know of a blog or tutorial? I'm lacking space and it would be nice to be able to remove my trees and be able to lay them down for space concerns. |

Heres my method cut out bases in odd shapes. Cut foam core using the bases as a masters. Base your trees on metal washers, uses the washers as masters for cutting slightly large holes in the foam core. Drill holes in the bases in the middle of each hole and glue a magnet in the hole. Glue the foam core to the base, then plaster and decorate both the base and the tree's washes bases. |

Here's a short video on making trees. Front end off video mentions making bases. YouTube link |

I don't use multi-bases with my trees. Rather, each tree is based on a washer. I "outline" the forest area with twigs, lichen, gravel etc. and plop the trees down. That way I can move trees out of the way of troops when needed. |

I'm with Extra Crispy; I outline the wooded area on the ground and use trees as removable/repositionable decorations. When the troops come through, the trees get out of the way. The outline shows the edges of the terrain area so you can tell when the troops are "in" or "out". I usually use decorated felt for the outline, but that's just a matter of preference. For storage, the trees are densely packed into one box and the forest floor felt pieces lay flat in another. - Ix |

I use green felt to lineate the wooded area and made hollow straws glued onto push pins which trees go into and can be changed around. The push pins stick the felt area to the game board. |

I have several bases of forested areas like this. Their construction did require trees from Woodland Scenics which have separate bases. See here: link |

Flashman14, I much prefer realistic terrain. Your method gives a battlefield depth and is aesthetically pleasing.

I used a similar method to make a wooded hillside. so answering the OP's question I would vote for your method |
