Very nice. I like the torn uniforms although more filth would have been appreciated on them. Best wishes, Chris |

Alas, there is no information about the source of the figures or their scale, but they are wonderfully finished. Retreat is difficult to model. The figures indeed would have been totally smoke blackened, plus mud or ice/snow layer once the ground was frozen, also. Much more heavily covered than seen here, (begging for frostbite as shown) so no suggestion of any uniform detail….which then begs the question…what would be the point of the modelling?
But you are absolutely right…….the Retreat was in monochrome. The Duellists caught it perfectly

Nicely done. Love the captured cuirass. Horses are superb, possibly a little too good for a Cossack pony? I know it's a nit pick, but they seem majestic and perfectly groomed… No denying the top shelf painting though – check out the horses' eyes for example. Nice find Tango |

Funny enough, however superbly painted the horses (and far too groomed and, well, whatever the opposite of shaggy is, for Cossack ponies), my one quibble would have been the eyes. Hard to be sure, could just be a reflection, but I see lots of white and a small iris/pupil in the centre. You might see the tiniest white in a horse, if facing a hedge of bayonets in a square, ……..but otherwise the ellipse is filled with some iris, front and back, and a large black pupil. Add some gloss varnish too. |
