I hate the square shields. A big limitation in how they might be integrated just on that basis. Not any use as a historical dark age figure without new shields. |

I'm not a huge fan of that style of shield myself but they remind me of the ones some of my Gripping Beat russians have like here. link Or like I've seen on The Last Kingdom (which is pretty good and seems to be fairly accurate for costumes). link Can't help with comparison pics because I didn't buy any of them, just dwarves and goblins. |

Gripping Beast's Jomsviking's tend to have rectangular shields: link If a person were to swap the shields from the Oathmark Humans with the Vikings by other companies (ie the new Victrix Vikings, Gripping Beast plastic Vikings, other metal vikings with no shields moulded on, etc) one could make their own Jomsvikings (with rectangular shields). Now, a size comparison with Gripping Beast metal Jomsvikings would have to be made, of course. |

Here's the best I've found. LOTR with Frostgrave figures.
From Left to Right: Perry's Sudanese, Gripping Beast Dark Age Warrior, Frostgrave Soldier, GW Lord of the Rings, Frostgrave Soldier, Fireforge plastic, Frostgrave metal thief Xin |

I was just reading on DakkaDakka forum that the Oathmark figures are actually 25mm. link |

I would call them 28mm similar to my old GW minis and many of the historical minis out there. A lot of fantasy minis seem to have grown in size over the years. When I think of 25mm I think of the Ral Partha and Grenadier minis I started with in the 80s. They're way smaller than the Frostgrave, Oathmark, Gripping Beast and Fireforge minis I have. I know there's always been questions about what 25/28/32mm actually means. I'm pretty happy that there are so many plastic sets now that are easily interchangeable for kit bashing. |
