Who makes these? I've been looking around and am having some trouble locating some nice figures for these unusual units. Also, many of the Ancien Regime armies had different uniforms during the period, so it's really a search for all the figs. Thanks! |

AB make some. OG: link have some too in the Battle Honors range, which I believe are AB before they were AB. Cheers, John |

to add Sho Boki – an ever increasing range – see boki.ee and yes Battle Honoirs has an extensive range as well, the height of the figures vary however depending when AB sculpted them, the old ones – like France are quite small – compared to the later ones. AB has a good coverage of the Austrian Army of 1792 – 1800 – Sho Boki is filling the gaps. |

Don't laugh but the minifigs revolutionary range is rated, seemingly well above the mainstream napoleonic collection: link My recollection is that TMP threads reviewed them favourably, but these things are very subjective. There was a very good sculpt of a young Bonaparte, IIRC. |

I'd buy a few samples and see what you enjoy painting the most before buying too many. AB cost a bit more but in my view they are more than worth it. They are very well cast and nice to paint. |

All the above: 1. AB are lovely – I live in NZ so the postage is cheap for me! 2. Magister Militum have some good figures 3. Battle Honors – as per von Winterfeldt's comment 4. Lancashire Games – cheap and plentiful – great for bulking out your armies 5. Minifigs – good for British |

wow, I didn't even know Minifigs did a Revolutionary Range. Blast from the past – some of the first figs I ever painted were Minifig Napoleonics. |

Pvt Snuffy. Look in the Napoleonic Ranges. They used to be buried in those lists. GFI created a seperate "range" to highlight their existance. The sculpts were done by Dave Higgs so would be of 3rd Generation. Very nicely done figures IM (not so) HO! |

Pvt Snuffy, Last summer I made a 15mm review in French magazine Vae Victis. Some of the pictures are shown here : link I'll made a new entry on the blog to show more as soon as possible. AB Austrians are great. And the French too but they are not "real" Revolution troops. if you're looking for the ragged look of the French Volunteers, see some other ranges. A truly excellent range is Magister Militum. Their French "Bleus" have a wide variety of "uniforms". I have several battalions of them, but not painted yet. And yes, French Minifig are excellent too ! |

The Minifigs French Revolution line has some interesting casts. I may be imagining this because my first uniform book was Philip Haythornthwaite's hardback on the uniforms of the French Revolutionary wars, but that book contains plates and explanations that link closely with some of the odder sculpting decisions- c.f., the 90th Foot in Tarletons and the flat-topped fur grenadier caps of the 61st. Not saying Minifigs used the book as a reference for the sculpts, but it would certainly come in handy as a reference for anyone who wanted to paint them. |
