I love the All Quiet on the Martian Front game. It has so many opportunities to do some cool modelling work. As some of you know, I sometimes take a tripod model and convert it into a wreck. The two resin wrecks you can buy are nice, but I wanted a bit more variety. I had done several which shows tripods which have been seriously destroyed.

Like this:

And this:

But I recently started work on a major expansion of my Martian forces and I decided that I needed to make some new wrecks. Ideally, I would have one wreck for every two undestroyed Martians so that I could keep substituting wrecks every time a Martian was destroyed, up to the 50% break point.

So I'm making more wrecks! This time I decided I wanted a few which were not so thoroughly destroyed as some of my earlier ones. Here is the first. I figured that it would be possible for a tripod to be knocked out without it actually falling to the ground.

This isn't really all that hard to do. Took my Dremel with a pointed cutting drill and just started carving up the model. I broke off a few of the arms and then drilled out the stumps and added a few wires. I also replaced the manipulating tendril with guitar wire to allow me to pose it how I wanted.

I also added the dead Martian pilot.

I made it out of green stuff putty and it took all of about ten minutes to do. Love those soft, squishy Martians!

Those are terrific! The dead Martian pilot is brilliant.

Yes, stunning work, especially on that pilot. I bet he was a trick to insert. Thank you for the inspiration!

Awesome work! I have always been interested in the game. Is it readily available?

Very cool…. how about one where the legs and waist are still standing, but the hull has been blown off and lies off to the side? smoking and demolished of course.

Love the pilot.

Is it possible to make a model partially fallen?
Perhaps a tripod with the command/pilot head missing and the lower legs remaining?

Thanks, everyone!

I inserted the pilot's body before I glued the top part of the tripod's head on, so that was easy. Then, once the body was in place, I attached the tentacles and draped them down over the lower part of the tripod. It was actually very simple.

As for the idea of having the legs still standing with the upper body blown off, I'm working on one of those right now. :) I will post some pics when it's done.

And the All Quiet game is still available. A new company has bought the rights and has some big plans for future expansions. In the meantime, the game and kits are still available through Miniature Market:

Great work! Love the expired pilot

Brilliant, beautiful work.

I'd never do it with GW, since I haven't won a MegaMillions jackpot.

Love 'em Scott! The dead pilot is inspired!

Oh, HELL yes!

Perhaps a tripod with the command/pilot head missing and the lower legs remaining?

Why am I suddenly seeing the ED-209 legs near the end of the first Robocop, looking a bit drunk? ;->=

Thanks for the information Scott. If I were to buy the starter set, what else should I add to the set?

For the Martians, Scouts, Slavers, Drones to start.

For the humans, artillery and more tanks.

Love running the game at Cons and also playing them at Cons as well. Easy to learn, play and great eye candy.
