…… years ago I was keen on epic Space Marine in 6mm scale. having got rid of my stuff 10 years back, I now find a growing interest in 6mm sci-fi. Not necessarily the Space Marine type background, but not too dissimilar. Who, in the UK, would you all recommend as having the best range of figures (infantry of all types, walkers, vehicles, flyers, etc) AND, do different suppliers figures work together in roughly the same scale? Thanks |

Lots to choose these days. Type 6mm sci-fi comparison into your search…lots of pics of infantry. Onslaught has great minis….you can get them in uk through vanguard miniatures who also sells them. Can't beat gzg for shipping… great vehicles in brigade models. |

Darkest star games also. Almost all the ones listed will work with each other. |

Ogre plastic infantry are 9mm toe to top of helmet. slender plastic figures so they can mix in pretty well as a taller than average species. Old Ral Partha BattleTech infantry are 8mm. The newer Iron Winds BattleTech infantry range are "heroic 8mm" ranging from 10–18mm!!! Not a good mixes well with anything else range. |

Yes forgot Darkest Star, very nice stuff ! ….. and are they scale compatible do you know? Pretty much as mentioned. IMO in reality(?) human sizes may vary based on the planet they live on. About 6mm-8mm generally + or -, in this case. But some 8-10mm IMO are too big, as Mo mentioned e.g. Ogre and BT … And of course Alien sizes can vary 3-10mm, + or -. It's a big Galaxy. I'd think many aliens would not be "human sized", I'd imagine. And that is the rule I use for my Epic/6mm Sci-fi. |

GZG is the best – in their pack you get around 50 miniatures for 3 pounds. I enjoy the high detail and the bases of the miniatures. Brigade Models is not so good, 24 miniatures for almost the same price, less detail, you have to work a little more in order to prepare them for playing. Hammer Slammer's infantry seems to be a little bit higher than 6mm. Scotia Grendel – less detail (though I like very much Power Armoured Troopers), around 50 miniatures for 2 pounds/25 for 2 pounds for PAT. For infantry I would try also Vanguard and Onslaught, a little bit expensive for the number of figures you receive, but the detail seems to be very good. |

GZG has no pictures of their infantry on their site. Also do you have links for Vanguard/DiD, HLS/EW, Bradley, and Black Earth? |
Legion 4 | 25 Nov 2018 8:38 a.m. PST |
Black Earth … scroll down to 6mm … link Bradley sold by Alternative Armies link
HLS/EW link Vanguard/DiD link I posted pics of most of 6mm GZG Infantry on Tac Cmd … link
The ones I don't have pics of in 6mm look at the 15mm Stargrunt range. They are basically 15mm copies of the 6mm … Or vis versa … link |

Legion Thank you for the links. Many of these figures are too 40K for my tastes though. |

You are welcome ! Well again there are a lot to choose from today for 6mm Sci-fi … Just have to find what works for you ! IMO for those that don't look too much like 40K: CinC SEM, Microworld, Khurasan, CP Models, GZG and Brigade … |
stephen m | 25 Nov 2018 5:31 p.m. PST |
I guess I should have said 40Kish. Not a style that suits my taste. |

Well … GHQ has some more 6mm "modern" as well as WWII figs that could work for you ? Maybe GHQ's Wehrmacht '47 or 3d World Warriors lines ? link |

I am aware there are lots of "historical" figures out there. I have many from a few periods and manufacturers and use them for low tech troops. Presently I am deciding on rules which will influence basing, so many figures are still in the strips they come in. |
Legion 4 | 28 Nov 2018 8:48 a.m. PST |
Always do what works for you. And yes today there are a lot of good 6mm figs/models out there for all periods. When I get figs on a strip I separate them and mount them on bases, etc., that works for me … E.g. These Darkest Star 6mm Khiff' came on a strip in column formation. I just cut them apart and mounted them on GW Epic long bases …
