Anyone else have problems with assembling some of the kits from Warlord/Italeri? The turrets don't fit together at all well, neither do the multi-part tracks. The IS-2 and Churchill have been particulaly painful, so much so that I need to buy another turret for the IS-2 and the Churchill model is in the bin.

Think I'll stick with Rubicon in future.

I noticed there is tendency for the roof of the Churchill not to fit properly onto the roof and assembling the IS-2 turret is very tricky.

I used Tamiya Super-Thin to assemble the Churchill and the IS-2. It works by capillary action so you can put in parts without getting glue all over your fingers.

Thanks, will try that next time. I have had success with the other kits – Pz-38(t), Marder, T-34 and KV-1 all went together fine. Just completed a StuG and that was fine too.

I had a real problem with the US Halftrack. I just could not get the sides to line up. Finally got it together, but there are small, annoying gaps between the door piece and the passenger compartment section. Hopefully I can fill them in with a little thick paint.

d88mm1940, one miracle filler for small gaps is actually PVA! :o

?!
PVA doesn't stick to plastic, so I'm guessing that you apply the glue after painting, then cover up the glue?
Tanks!

I have a Warlord IS2 and had no problems putting it together.

Did you make sure you got correct track no the correct side? I have no idea what the problem with the turret would be.

I had a problem fitting the front part of the turret – didn't seem to want to fit. The models seem very hit and miss, but I've read that on various blogs. Still grateful for the range of 1/56 plastic kits available though! Just some room for improvement.

You have to be careful with the kits issued from Warlord.

I have found that those produced by Italeri / WG are difficult to assemble and very "old school". I stay away from them if I can.

On the other hand, those more recently designed with no Italeri logo on them are a pure joy to assemble: the sdkfz 251 series, Opel Blitz, Marder III, Pz IV are absolutely fun to put together. The Puma, Pz III (with the Italeri logo) were hard labor and a pain.
