…giant swords?

"As mentioned by Shad in a recent video ( youtu.be/0t8ZrI5JqCw ), a big problem with giant fantasy swords is that they are often simply too heavy for the wielder regardless of superhuman strength. Would creating a hollow sword be an effective workaround for this? Or would it create more problems? Below I have an illustration of an example "hollow sword" design…."

Being hollow might save quite a lot of people's weight problems . . .

Cheers,

A hollow sword is just not a practical thing.
A fuller reduces weight, increases strength and is practical.

If it's a magic sword, it would make itself "lighter" for it's wielder, so mass wouldn't be an issue. The size, on the other hand, means it's not very good in enlosed or cramped spaces (kind of hard to swing it in a tunnel or in close ranks. ;-)
I'd count it as more of a shield than a weapon, myself… ;-)

Some of the big mace heads from India are hollow.
