As promised, my review of Fall In complete with a link to a folder full of pics in the text. Note para on my Hungarian Revolution 1848 game. Link below intro:

The Wargamer

If you were wondering where Bill had got to last week, he'd been using the time he normally spends writing up his column to prepare for the annual Fall In historical miniatures convention. He's back now, and ready to tell us how it went.

PS: Evidently there is a big in the system which retitles posts for a French cannon. DA BUG. Weird.

Ciao, Colonel Bill

Very interesting report, Bill. I found your comments about the various traders not coming anymore and the greying of the hobby to be right on the mark. I look at my own group and those that play at our local store, with the grognards focusing on colonials, ACW, Napoleonic, etc., while the younger gamers are all into X-Wing, Armada, and playing Sigmar with hordes of unpainted figs.

I agreed with Bill's assessment. However I did have younger players in the games I ran and it wasn't X-Wing, etc. I ran several games of Too Fat Lardies What a Tanks rules. I saw two father son teams and other "20 something" gamers playing historical games. Frankly the greying of the hobby argument is always fraught with doom and gloom, but never has lived up to the hype.

Nothing is ever 100 % whenever humans are involved, so this was my general impression overall. It doesn't help with all the passings we have recently in the community.
