What opinion about wargaming and your hobby do you hold that other hobbyists find to be a marginal one? Hates vehicular combat, especially planes & ships. Hates Fantasy gaming Hates SciFi gaming Hates Historical gaming Will only play Nazis Hates Ancients Hates Napoleonics Hates ACW Hates Moderns Happy to play with unpainted troops Happy to substitute figures from radically different periods Bad personal hygiene is beyond reproach Intolerant of other scales/sizes Intolerant of ugly game tables, troops/figures. Intolerant of young players Intolerant of elderly players Just spitballing here … |

I fall into the "Happy to play with unpainted troops" camp. Based upon my area this one seems to be a marginal opinion: Is not willing to play WH40K (or any variation thereof) |

I find naval battles and sea combat dreadfully boring. |

The shoving french columns into British/Prussian/Russian/Austrian lines. The columns were maneuver formations, to move battalions faster within larger formations and across the terrain. You should always deploy into line outside enemy musket range. Yet almost all Napoleonic wargaming rules not only lets you shove columns into the enemy but often give the column various bonuses so actually encourage it. |

Why would anyone hate any type of gaming? Boring maybe, but hate? Well, except maybe zombies |

I hate boring games. There! I said it! I feel so liberated. By the way, I find that "bad personal hygiene" is an urban legend. |

If you think bad personal hygiene is a legend then you've never been to SELWG. Some of the smelliest people in the world attend there. |

Dice don't hate anyone, you only remember your worst rolls; oh, and small dice with rounded corners always roll more 1s, don't use them. |

I don't hate anything but I only use white etch primer, very thin metal bases and single rank basing. None of those things are the most popular options but then I only have to please myself… |

I can't stand moderns. Though my biggest sore spot are rules that fearfully cling to the use of d6's, when some other polyhedral die type(s)would serve better. |

I don't think everyone understands what the OP is asking. I think he is asking what opinion people outside our hobby have of our hobby which is considered marginal or in other words not true or marginal at best. Its not about what category you fit in. Flashman is that correct? |

I read it again and now I don't know what is being asked. |

I'm just happy I'm not the only poor sot who didn't understand the question. |
warwell | 14 Nov 2018 12:42 p.m. PST |
This is how I interpret the question What opinion do you hold that would be unpopular among the community at large? For example, I consider this ( link ) a perfectly acceptable form of wargaming I also prefer very small scales (2mm 3mm) |

I am happy to play with unpainted troops, which others in our hobby seem to look askance at. Also, my political and religious opinions don't seem to be in the popular majority. |

I can't play against someone with poor hygiene. It's like I rolled poorly on a fog of war table… |
Texas Jack | 14 Nov 2018 1:30 p.m. PST |
I interpret the question to mean what opinions do you hold that are contrary to those held by the majority of other wargamers. My club has a strong disdain for 1/72 plastics, while nearly my entire collection is made up of the evil things. Canīt understand the prejudice towards such finely sculpted figures at great prices, but to each his own. Also, I really donīt care for any rules by Dave Brown. Nothing personal, as I donīt know the gentleman at all, but I just find his rules to be slow moving and riddled with exceptions. Simply not my cup of tea. However, most gamers I know adore his rules, so go figure. |

what opinions do you hold that are contrary to those held by the majority of other wargamers. I have no idea what a "majority" of wargamers believe. I'm not sure what a contrary opinion means … if I "hate" games that use orange d7, should I believe the contrary opinion is that the majority loves such games or just doesn't hate such games. What about the people who never considered them and wouldn't be inclined to bother considering if asked. Or the ambivalent? My personal suspicion is that, given the fractured nature of the hobby, is that the majority don't care one way or the other about any specific genre or issue. Also … death. No, wait. Cake. |

I hate zombies that don't brush their teeth, truly awful. Zombie wargamers with opinions are even worse however.
