Sorry, I meant WWI. I wish we could edit topics. Maybe dear editor would correct that for me. |

I'm not a big fan of colorization in dramatic movies like Casablanca…but feel like this was a good thing here…even the short clips in the trailer make the soldiers more human and relatable, and help the conflict seem less distant and abstract. |

Very good job here. I approve of the color, but even without that, removing scratches and getting the timing right helps tremendously. As for colorizing old movies, I have mixed feelings. Not sure I'd buy off on it for "Citizen Kane," but as far as I'm concerned, colorizing an Errol Flynn swashbuckler is a public service. |

Watched it last night on BBC2, fantastic piece of work. The colour brings it to life combined with the lip synced speech voiced by actors and the recollections from veterans recorded during the 60s and 70s. It is on the BBC i Player for a week. Can't wait for a Blu-Ray release, the extras will probably be just as impressive based on Peter Jackson's other productions. |

Great stuff No. 2 son was an extra in the CBC's The Great War, which had the distinction of having most of the cast being descendants of WWI vets (in his case, four great-great uncles) imdb.com/title/tt0846011 |

Saw it on its premiere night in a cinema. When the big guns fired the room shook… It's excellent. Also does a bit of an "Oz" thing by staying in b&w until they reach Flanders. |

How does one see this film in the US? I'd sure like to see it, but don't think flying to England is in the cards. |

Fathom Events has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring Peter Jackson's World War I documentary "They Shall Not Grow Old" to U.S. theaters on Dec. 17 and Dec. 27, Variety has learned exclusively. Tickets go on sale on Nov. 16. |

It was really remarkable, in odd bits it felt like you were actually there. |

By far one of the best things I've seen. Does an excellent job of dispelling a few myths as well, the best bit for me was the start, with the men discussing how it was just a job and was often enjoyable. |

I'm very excited to see this when it reaches the US. |

Yes! I just hope my local theater that hosts Fathom Events will carry this one, too! Absolutely amazing work that helps bridge the century, perhaps especially for those who otherwise would give no thought or time to what came before us and the effects still felt today. TVAG |

Forgot to say, they are also sending a copy to every secondary school in Britain. |

Very much looking forward to this. In the meantime, here's a short video interview with Peter Jackson, giving us a quick glimpse into the techniques used in restoring the footage: YouTube link And a 45 minute podcast interview as well, which gives more insight into the source material used in the film: link |

Outstanding masterpiece. The colour adds life into the men . Unbelievable how young those Tommys were. |

Saw this last night here in the states. It totally lived up to expectations. See it if/when you can. Although I now have "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" stuck in my head… |

I was able to watch it last night here and I found it to be extremely well done. |

Mserafin! Completely agree about the song! Did you stay after the movie to see how Peter Jackson created it (and of course the song)? That was almost worth the price of admission right there. Our theater out here in St Louis aired it on Monday at 4 and 7 PM. It was completely worth it in every respect. Seeing it in 3D was not obnoxious and make it something that we could only experience in a theater (sometimes 3D messes with my eyes too much but not with this movie). I simply looked for the movie in my local theaters to figure out when to go and while there was a lot of people there with us, I can say it wasn't packed so if you can find a date and a place, you can probably still get tickets. It helps having people who actually know what color things should be! And also having the computing power to do it well. I watched one of those WW2 in Color docs and just could not go on. They colored German armor green in 1939 because no one knew they were actually grey. Couldn't watch any more! |

Going to take my dad tomorrow afternoon to see it, comments I read in a review were all good. |

Amazing how they updated the film and extremely well with sound effects. If any detract was my dad was disappointed in not covering the air war and only a minor to me it was only from the British veiw. Only minor as heaven knows I read books that do the same thing. I did think towards the end it wasn't going to cover any air combat. But did show quite a lot of tanks. |
