I have two of these, and plan to paint them up. I am not sure what colors to use, though. The doors I will do in brown for the people entrance, red for the "dock" entrance. The water tower round top I think will be red, or some color I assign to the company that owns it as their brand. The problem is: Windows I am not sure, how best to color these? The main Building walls. One is tempted to leave them grey (not paint) but I just dont know. The chimneys I am thinking should be black or brick red, any thoughts? In general I love my JR Miniatures stuff, and glad I got what I have. I guess to get more one just searches to see which stores still have it? |

For unglazed windows I use a deep gray, almost black. For glazed I like the look of a dark blue with a light blue and then white highlight. Like this:
Chimneys I would paint as red brick. Walls gray or tannish gray. JR was sold but I don't think it ever came back. I have some yet to paint purchased just before they sold and the castings are pretty rough. Loads of bubbles, bad molds, etc. So I'd be pretty wary of buying any more at this point. Plus with all the great new makers out there, why? Look at BattleScale, Leven, Total Battle, etc. etc. |
