Gents, I have to ask this. Recently at an event I witnessed a "pro" state that a militia man would more than likely use a plug bayonet in a Brown Bess. When I questioned the accuracy of this since a BB would take a socket and not a plug, the "gentleman" yelled at me.

Anyone know of this happening during the Rev War? Plug's seem to have been out of functional use by this time.

That third picture is a very impressive Brown Bess, but it doesn't look like the chainsaw bayonet is blocking the barrel of the gun.

A plug bayonet was a purpose-built device that was last used in British service in the late 17th or very early 18th century – I doubt that militia would have had them specially built for them as socket bayonets has been the rule for decades by then

I have doubts a plug bayonet would be first choice, maybe a makeshift if owner had none as it could very easily have been made. But any quality blacksmith could make a socket bayonet. Any issue of muskets by England I would guess, but don't know for sure, would come with it.

I've always wanted to link 40K with the American Revolution.

Hey, there's a mutant chronicles game…oh, nuts.

At least they have bounced back.

Anything that saps a few Bob from modern GW has to be good. Good on them.
