I just finished watching this flick yesterday. I really didn't have any idea what to expect. While the battle scenes are few, I think it does a pretty good job of showing the strain of command, as well as life in the trenches. link |

Loved the 1930 original version – Colin Clive always looked like he was hanging on the edge in just about everything he did. I'll have to get a look at the remake. |

Yes to Aces High. Journey's End is a stage play written by J Sheriff, hence the lack of action on the battlefield. Carried over to the big screen. I think Aces High works better than this latest offering. The play, seen on stage, is better still. |

I saw the stage play in NYC in 2007. High Dancy played the role originated by Lawrence Olivier in 1928. The show was very well done and received an excellent review from the NY Times. |
