I received a note Wed Night that my game was moves out of Distlefink to Vista's Windows due to renovations.

I suspect others will be to.

Larry
the game was Johnny Reb at 10 am friday

Well at least they told you before hand. A couple of HC ago my table was double booked and I end up in a side room.

DeRuyter08 Nov 2018 10:36 a.m. PST

I got notice of the move and we have a group taking 6-8 tables each day. We got moved to Vistas as well.

i don't actually know what "vistas windows" means. the only windows near vistas to my knowledge are a)the restaurant 2) that area in front of vistas where big games are usually held, that already has a name…which i can't remember.

corzin08 Nov 2018 6:07 p.m. PST

just got an email

Yes, it's inside the old Vistas Restaurant.

Best Regards,

Bill White

I've also been moved to Vista.

The Vista Room is also the location for the Temporary Bar & and Food Distribution/Eating Area. So enjoy your games in that atmosphere!

The concessions are on the patio outside of the paradise room. (Under cover). The Vistas Windows room is all gaming and looks good. The concessions are from CoffieCo.

With rain and possible thunderstorms moving into the Lancaster area this afternoon/evening that should work out really well!

Apparently the Update on the Host posted by HMGS Officials just 2 weeks ago is now inaccurate/incomplete!!

historygamer09 Nov 2018 12:53 p.m. PST

So far they are making things work. Just walked past the food area and it was busy. Tables inside the door.

"With rain and possible thunderstorms moving into the Lancaster area this afternoon/evening that should work out really well!"

Thanks Moriarty.

Always stirring the pot, huh vagamer63?

WaltOHara09 Nov 2018 3:24 p.m. PST

I had no trouble getting something to eat. I just didn't sit out in the race n.

Double G,

It's rather easy to look at the weather radar, or check the forecast for Lancaster. Something that seems beyond the capabilities of BOD Members.

Bowman,

No, just stirring up the sycophants!

TheKing3009 Nov 2018 7:34 p.m. PST

It's raining? I've been playing so many games with Bowman we didn't even notice…. thanks for the weather update!

TheKing3009 Nov 2018 7:36 p.m. PST

But seriously – thank you VAGamer. You stay there in front of the computer and television and let us know how the weather forecast is shaping up!!

capncarp09 Nov 2018 8:47 p.m. PST

Yeah, the rain sucks, but once inside registration was easy, the hardest part is dealing withthe degraded accessibilty issues.
The weather is going to do what the hell it wants. Why the BOD needs to get involved is beyond me.

Great day today…
played in an ESR Napoleonic game. Fun!
Hit the vendor hall… some planned purchases and a few not. Good stuff.
Had food at the caterer they bought in on the patio and that was very welcome. (They were very pleasant too)
Visited the Flea Market and made 3-4 significant scores. No more scores please!
Of course there were friends… several I have not seen in years. Lots of laughs and merriment.

Thanks to the BOD for its weather forecasting.Thursday weather was clear and beautiful for our Gettysburg day trip and they managed to put off the rain until Friday. Well done all!

Self professed troll and a whole… maybe I should stop there.

The convention seems to be going well from my perspective. Food looks and smells good (though I bring my own due to a special diet, so I can't vouch for the taste). Tables inside so people get their food on the patio (which is partly closed off by a huge plastic curtain from the elements) and go inside. I feel bad for the servers who have to stay out there. Enough tickets for gamers, and not too many unclaimed, though some games I know of didn't have many (or any, in one case) players. :-(

Thursday afternoon temporary carpet was being laid down in some areas, such as at the bar near the old entrance. Distelfink and Marietta the carpet is gone, but we don't need no stinkin' carpet.

historygamer10 Nov 2018 9:38 a.m. PST

While there is only one food station in the hotel, the food is excellent. I hear the food is also pretty good in the dealer hall too.

++++ to Dan's and Jim's comments on the food. A big improvement!!

Double G11 Nov 2018 6:45 a.m. PST

Agreed, the food was terrific, nothing like a freshly grilled burger, the caterers did a great job.

They used the coffee shop. They have excellent food, coffee and customer service. It was a big improvement over previous years…
