The other solution for Tigers (Elephants, Jagdpantgers etc) was large calibre direct area fire with overlapping templates on one vehicle and smoke to mask its pals. It was of course possible to play with sensible opponents. |

Sorry meant page 18. I guess I'm Lucky as I tend to organise the scenarios and try to make them as realistic as possible within the War gaming context. But the main thing is they can provide a good game with easy mechanics. I have used, and do use more complicated rules but found in lots of instances, not every instance, the same result can occur but takes a lot more effort rules mechanics wise |

I was introduced to "Armour & Infantry 1925 – 1950" as a teenager 40 years ago when I joined a local wargames club. While I've played Command Decision, Spearhead and have Blitzkrieg Commander and the most recent WRG WW2 and Modern sets, my preferred rules for 1:1 scale WW2 games is still A&I 1925-50 1973/76 Edition and these are still played by members of nwa.org.au. I have often wondered about how to mitigate some of the perceived issues that are raised in regard to the set. My own solution is to combine the movement and the "To Hit" charts with the contemporary 1950-75 (1976? Ed) I also recommend Micheal Reece's article published in Dragon Magazine #32 link Finally IAN Shaw's "WWII Army Organisations and Equipment 3rd Ed" provide an expanded Armour Class list and other interesting notes. |

While I would like to be able to use the penetration chart from the most recent WRG WWII set I haven't quite worked out converting the I-X armour classes to their simpler A-F equivalent. One thing that could easily be incorporated is the section on "Restricted Ammunition" which basically says special rounds such as German "squeeze-bore" post 1942, APDS and HE for 6pdr & 17pdrs pre 3rd quarter 1944 etc are restricted to 3 rds in the game. If available you specify that you are firing the restricted round and put a marker/counter to show use otherwise a less effective round is calculated for |

…my preferred rules for 1:1 scale WW2 games is still A&I 1925-50 1973/76 Edition and these are still played by members of nwa.org.au. That's interesting – I thought WW2 at NWA was mostly a hold-out for "Panzerfaust" ruleset …? |

Hornswoggler, Yes, Panzerfaust is still the played at NWA as it was written by some of the members. Currently Chain of Command, Crossfire, Spearhead and WRG's A & I are all regular appearing at club meetings |

I have to defer to Mark1 as to the play of WRG WW2. I only played it a few times and that is only with tanks. However, I played Modern WRG every week for a half-dozen years. I noticed there was no reason to try to maneuver to the side of a Tiger I as it has the same armor on the front and side. Also, if the JagdPanther has 'A' armor to the front then shouldn't the Panther have 'A' armor on the front hull? Does it have 'C' armor on the front turret? So if it goes hull down shouldn't the armor go to 'C' armor? The American infantry as 'green' is curious because if this is caused by replacements then unless the US army had such a high casualty rate that replacements forced down the morale then what does it say of other countries? They too must of suffered casualties. Are their units depleted? If so then their firepower should be cut down. Instead of needing a '6' to kill it becomes a '7'. If they are fresh units then they too are green. |
